Part 1: The Main Plots Of “See You Never, Mr. Lamont” Novel
Claudia Lloyd has never celebrated any special occasions with Edmond Lamont, her husband whom she has married for three years. Claudia will always receive a cold beep whenever she calls Edmond.
Claudia has tried everything possible to appear obedient and attractive in front of her husband. However, none of Claudia’s acts satisfy Edmond. After all, Edmond is head over heels to another woman named Rosalie Clayton.
Edmond’s abundant love for Rosalie leads him to pick Rosalie up at the airport when Rosalie returns to the country. Such a heartless gesture in “See You Never, Mr. Lamont” novel leads Claudia to experience constant abandonment from Edmond. Furthermore, she also receives a piece of bitter news about her grandmother’s sickness.
Rosalie’s sudden visit to Claudia’s grandmother doesn’t only shock the latter woman. Claudia also suspects something is happening when Rosalie also takes over her grandmother’s treatment methods until Claudia’s grandmother passes away. Chapter 1
Two highlights make Chapter 1, the earliest chapter of the “See You Never, Mr. Lamont” novel, delightful to read. First, Claudia’s relationship with Edmond has been declining. The declining relationship doesn’t only show weird things happening in their relationships. It also opens another fact of Edmond, which is his heart for Rosalie Clayton.
Second, Claudia’s grandmother’s worsening health, which leads to her eventual death, also becomes the highlight in Chapter 1 of “See You Never, Mr. Lamont”. It marks the first time Claudia swears revenge on Rosalie. After all, Rosalie is the only person suddenly visiting Claudia’s grandmother. Claudia also believes the instinct that tells her Rosalie’s visit is not an “accident”.
Chapter 18
Rosalie’s cunningness dominates the story’s portions in See You Never, Mr. Lamont Chapter 18. She teams up with Gilda, a woman who is as cunning as her. In addition, Gilda also teams up with Ervin, her cousin. The first things these snakey people do to embarrass Claudia are to spread false rumors about her relationship with Waldron and set her up with Edmond in a car.
Rosalie weaponizes Edmond’s agreement to divorce Claudia while protecting his ex-wife. When bloody wounds fully cover Edmond’s body and Claudia attends to his wounds, Rosalie uses her influence to accuse Claudia of getting Edmond involved in a car accident. Such an accusation triggers Claudia’s violent side as she slaps Rosalie.
Chapter 19
Waldron is one of the guys who can make Claudia comfortable. We can see the proof in See You Never, Mr. Lamont Chapter 19. He defends Claudia by making Rosalie, a woman who has threatened Claudia numerous times, bleed. At the same time, Waldron doesn’t have lustful eyes on Claudia.
Ervin is one of Waldron’s closest friends. So, he knows Waldron doesn’t usually behave these ways despite his loyalty to his closest ones. As a result, even though Ervin and Waldron have canceled their cooperation with the Clayton family, Claudia distances herself from Waldron to avoid people misunderstanding their relationship.
Part 3: Some Analysis Of “See You Never, Mr. Lamont” Novel
“See You Never, Mr. Lamont” is a novel where we learn the complexity of relationships between affluent families. The usual books would only focus on the two MCs’ wealthy and well-known families. However, reading “See You Never, Mr. Lamont” novel also lets us see the dynamics in other affluent families.
The Clayton family appears to possess domineering influence at first until Claudia’s shocking discovery of her Friedan family status appears. Claudia’s Friedan family status doesn’t only bring radical changes to Edmond’s personality. It also shows us Edmond’s terrible side of being a free-rider. Remember, he also dated the wealthy Rosalie while married to Claudia.
As one of the most cowardly characters in this novel, Edmond deserves the “See You Never, Mr. Lamont” statements, not only from Claudia but also from other characters. Meanwhile, Waldron is one of my favorite characters. He is unpretentious, and protective, and respects Claudia’s boundaries. Claudia deserves Waldron more than the cowardly Edmond!
Yet, in “See You Never, Mr. Lamont” book, Claudia’s appearance gives an innocent girl vibe to her characteristics. No matter what background led to her failed marriage with Edmond, I get a sense of her need to learn many things around her, including to stand up for herself.
Still, the “See You Never, Mr. Lamont” novel is one of the most delightful-to-read novels I’ve ever read. Not only does this novel involve more than two affluent families since the earliest chapters, but the revenge schemes between the characters are neatly planned. These things make the characters’ personalities livelier.
Part 4: An Alternative Novel To “See You Never, Mr. Lamont”
The family member’s death can lead a person to retaliate in the worst ways possible. The retaliation attempts will be much worse if the person affected is a female and she has access to wealthy families. We have seen such scenes in “See You Never, Mr. Lamont” since the first chapter. Claudia’s cold but brutal approaches continue in further chapters of this novel.
Despite their popularity among commoners, affluent families have their darkest secrets. Sometimes, approaching these hugely influential families is similar to mafias. So, I recommend you to read The Mafia’s Revenge as the alternative novel to “See You Never, Mr. Lamont”.
