The Founder Of Diabolism (Chinese official title: Mo Dao Zu Shi) is an Eastern Asian BL manga that tells us a story about two men named Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji in their missions to fight demons, ghosts, and encountering other spiritual beings while unravelling the mysterious nature of the spiritual world.
The story of The Founder Of Diabolism itself starts by telling us that Wei Wuxian, one of the novel’s MCs, dies after the first siege of the Burial Mounds in Luanzhang Hill. Soon, Wuxian finds himself reincarnated in the body of Mo Xuanyu, a former disciple of one of the clans in Lanling, who summoned his spirit through a Sacrificial Ritual to avenge his families.
Yet, as Wuxian in Xuanyu’s body embarks on more missions, he develops much deeper feelings to Lan Wangji, a man whom he used to hate in his first life. What will happen when the two guys become cultivation partners?

I get an impression of a massive and thrilling battle between Wei Wuxian and the soul-consuming goddess when I read The Founder Of Diabolism Chapter 10. Earlier in the chapter, I notice Wei Wuxian has two support systems: The first one is Wen Ning, his creation, and the second one is Jin Ling with his blade.
Apparently, Wei Wuxian’s flute is not only meant to attack his opponents. In The Founder Of Diabolism Chapter 10, we find out that he can also use the flute to guide his teammates. The amazing powers of Wei Wuxian’s super-flute is that it can make him reunite with his martial juniors, such as Jiang Cheng, leader of the YunmengJiang sect.
The Founder Of Diabolism Chapter 119
The Founder Of Diabolism Chapter 119 has the hide-and-seek game between Wei Wuxian and his spouse, Lan Wangji, as the opening. At first, Wuxian is so confident in his ability of being invisible. Still, Wangji manages to overpower him by catching his hands and answering his questions calmly.
Wei Wuxian is such a mischievous, cheerful, yet intelligent individual, and I can see these entire characteristics in the ways he gently persuades Wangji to answer his questions in The Founder Of Diabolism Chapter 119. He also manages to seduce Wangji in this chapter. Beware of the steaminess in the middle of the chapter, though!
Part 2: Core Stories Of The Founder Of Diabolism A.K.A. Mo Dao Zu Shi Manga
Like any other Xianxia or reincarnation/transmigration novels, The Founder Of Diabolism a.k.a. Mo Dao Zu Shi (in the Chinese official version) has more than one sects as the central focus of the novel. The sects involved in this novel are YunmengJiang, LanlingJin, GusuLan, and QingheNie sects… At least, these four sects are the sects that appear in earlier chapters of the novel.
These four sects have cooperated so well that they defeated the extremely powerful Yiling Patriarch, Wei Wuxian, in his “den”, which is the Luanzhang Hill. It wasn’t only the ghost soldiers who turned their backs against this being who cultivates the dark path; his shidi in The Founder Of Diabolism novel, Jiang Cheng, also put an end to his life during the first siege of the Burial Mounds.
In the meantime, we also know all about The Founder Of Diabolism Mo Xuanyu, the illegitimate son of the lecherous Jin Guangshan and his mistress, Second Lady Mo, the daughter of a servant. Xuanyu’s mother was only 16 when she gave birth to him. Let’s not forget that his aunt, Madam Mo, her husband, and Mao Ziyuan, their son, are so abusive and cruel toward him.

Mo Xuanyu uses Xianshe (an array of Xuanyu’s body to summon the spirit) to summon Wuxian’s spirit and inject it to his body. That way becomes Wuxian’s path in reincarnating to the boy’s body.
At some first chapters of The Founder Of Diabolism manga a.k.a. novel, Wei Wuxian is more determined to fulfil Xuanyu’s wishes. At some points, he also flirts with women, which makes him seem like a straight man. However, things begin to change the moment he meets Lan Wangji, a person he used to avoid in his first life.
Wuxian himself admits that all Wangji could do in the past was to bring his monstrous and villainous sides. However, as the stories of The Founder Of Diabolism novel progress, the two guys start to feel more than friends for each other. What will be different once they become cultivation partners?

Mo Xiang Tong Xiu’s name might not be so foreign to you if you enjoy reading lots of fantasy novels with supreme doses of Eastern Asian elements.
The Founder Of Diabolism is just one of Mo Xiang Tong Xiu’s most famous creations. Like any other Mo Xiang Tong Xiu’s novels and manga, we’ve seen so many adapted versions of this Eastern Asian novels. For instance, sometimes, the novel is referred to as Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation, and in the official Chinese translation, it is Mo Dao Zu Shi.
I love the aesthetics of each sect’s symbols, which make The Founder Of Diabolism Mo Xiang Tong Xiu different from other Eastern Asian fantasy novels.
