Without a doubt, Tamia is a kickass heroine. She has the courage to take a leap of faith and embrace a chosen mate, not once but twice and putting herself in the line of rejection if a fated mated should come along.
She gathers all the necessary traits of a great Luna, she is devoted to Alpha Leo and even tries to stand by his side after he finds Amanda and fails to fulfill his promise and reject her. She is ready to overcome everything, as long as Leo remains loyal to her.
Eventually, the pain she experiences whenever her husband mates with Amanda is more than she can handle, thus she uses the pack’s assault as a way to escape her marriage. Tamia may not seem to give Alpha Sylvester the time of day at first and even fears him, but his patience and soft side eventually wins her over.
Alpha Sylvester is seen as a brutal leader, but he doesn’t mind that, as this reputation makes his enemies fear him. He never found his fated mate and he’s not even looking for a chosen one, but Tamia manages to reach his heart and win him over.
Just like Leo, Alpha Sylvester promises to be faithful to Tamia and reject his fated mate if she should make an appearance. The chapter is being told from Tamia’s point of view.
She knew she made Leo jealous by talking to Devin, causing the Alpha to get down on his knees and hold her legs, while promising to make things work between them. She believes that her husband is honest, but she is also aware of the fact that he won’t be able to keep his promise.
Alpha Leo already left their bedroom to sleep in Amanda’s. Tamia’s bed went cold in the last few months and sharing her husband wasn’t an option for her. She offered him one last night of love making. While he believed they were making amends, she was actually saying goodbye to her husband.
An enraged Amanda scolded Leo for spending the night with his wife and, for the first time, the Alpha put her in her place. This melted Tamia’s heart and convinced her to remain by Leo’s side.
Soon, the pack got under attack and Tamia learned about Amanda being pregnant. She wished for a child for years, but Leo never agreed and now he was having a pup with someone else. Heartbroken, she didn’t fight her enemies, allowing them to take her as prisoner.

The novel’s first few chapters are heart wrenching and difficult to read as you expect Tamia’s heart to get broken over and over. Overall, your emotions are up and down constantly. It’s like a rollercoaster that you can’t control but you hope it will stop when the time is right.
I kept believing at first that Leo would come to his senses and reject Amanda, especially since he literally threw himself at her feet begging for forgiveness, but my rooting for him was completely over when he impregnated Amanda. That’s when I decided that Tamia deserves someone better, her own man.
Fortunately, Sylvester proved to be everything that Leo wasn’t. Not only did he love Tamia, but he stayed true to his feelings and promises towards the girl he chose as mate.
This novel is a perfect portrayal of second chances. The author did a terrific job with creating a beautiful, fulfilling journey for Tamia and Sylvester’s love story.
