Maximilian is a young girl who thinks very little of herself. She grew up developing complexities and annoying habits such as biting her fingernails due to her father’s constant abuse.
As a result of her harsh childhood, she also stutters. When king Elnuima Reuben III learns about the wakening of Sektor, the Red Dragon, after a long hibernation, he summons all dukes to join a campaign to subdue the dragon.
Maxi’s father is a coward man, who fears fighting the dragon, thus he marries the daughter he thinks so low of, Riftan Calypso, a low-class knight who can’t disobey the duke’s command. He sends Riftan to fight on his behalf.
When the knight returns as one of the best swordsmen on the continent, after having defeated the dragon, the duke of Croyso persuades Maxi into making her marriage work.
Divorce would bring shame onto his family, also condemning his daughter to ridicule and possibly death. To add more to her insecurities, Maxi also learns that Riftan was offered the princess’s Agnes hand in marriage.
Will they overcome their differences and make their marriage work? Will Maxi make Riftan fall in love with her and stay by her side for a lifetime? Under The Oak Tree novel sets up a sweet suspense, filled with emotions, chills, and very, very descriptive love-making scenes.

Part 2: Hot Chapters from Under the Oak Tree
Under the Oak Tree Chapter 25
In this chapter, Glimpse of Magic, Riftan holds Max into his arms, trying to warm her up, while she is flustered thinking about all the eyes watching them be so close to one another.
Even though Riftan is her husband, Maximilian is still very shy. Seeing her awkwardness, the wizard Ruth pleads with Riftan to be more considerate of his wife.
He hands her a glowing light, the Manastone of fire, to keep her warm. Indeed, as soon as Maxi touched the spell, she felt immediate warmth. She then fell asleep in her husband’s arms until morning.
The next day, Riftan becomes nervous as his wife wandered alone in the woods to go to the stream and wash her face and asks her to never leave alone again since the Judicial woods are full of monsters.
Under the Oak Tree Chapter 27
In Mysterious Heat, Riftan and Max make out, with Riftan pulling his wife closer and closer to him while devouring her lips. She shies away again, telling him that it is not a proper place for what they are about to do.
Unwillingly, Riftan takes a deep breath and lets her go. Back to his comrades, he becomes the target of their jokes, as he returned from his wife way too fast. They start bickering for a while until Riftan has the knights take turns in keeping watch that night.
He proceeds to put up the tent, and Maxi holds the lamp right next to him.
When the two knights who were fighting earlier brought three birds for dinner and started to pull out their feathers, Maxi felt sick and run inside the wagon, and even though Riftan tried to make her eat something, he wasn’t successful at all. The night passed quietly as everyone slept tight.
Under the Oak Tree Chapter 28
In Questionable Behavior, Max woke up in the morning, washed her face and brushed her hair with her hands for lack of commodities, and ate some bread before leaving again with the knights. The wagon made the trip uncomfortable, as it would rattle again and again.
The knights were disappointed that they hadn’t seen a goblin all that long, but Maximilian was quite happy about that, she didn’t want to see any monsters. The night passed just as quietly as the day went by, and the next day, they were on the road again.
This time, in Sanatorium, where the terrain was better paved, thus the wagon ride was more comfortable.
Maximilian took comfort in the idea that, in mere two days, she would finally sleep in a bed and eat normal food such as vegetable soup and soft bread. When the sun was about to set and they took the night break, Max frantically started to look for Riftan, as he was nowhere in her sight.
She finally found him by a river with the horses and pretended she only needed to wash her hands.
Rifton kneels in front of her and gently washes her skirt, which was covered in dust and soaked in water. Max couldn’t believe that such a brave man, who would only kneel in front of a king, would stay on his knees in front of her.
Under the Oak Tree Chapter 35
In Maxi Don’t Fall Asleep, Max and Riftan are taking a bath together. He gently soaps her entire body, massaging her skin, and asks her to do the same for him. While washing his hair, she gets soap in Riftan’s eyes by mistake, making him complain like a kid. This brought a smile to Maxi’s face. She even found him adorable.
While listening to his heart beating like a lullaby, Max fell asleep. She vaguely felt Riftan carry her out of the bathtub, dry her hair and body and cover her with a warm blanket. Afterward, Riftan carried on by caressing her naked body.
When waking up the next morning, Maximilian finally realized that they arrived in Anatol. Home. She was greeted by a nice maid who offered to add firewood to keep the room warm and to prepare a nice meal for the lady of the household.

Part 3: Under the Oak Tree Review
The under the Oak Tree novel is one of my favorites. The author has done a great job in creating a fantasy world filled with emotions so strong and vivid. The main characters, Riftan and Maximilian catch your attention from the very first chapter.
Their relationship is so unique and tricky, but the storyline has you rooting for them from the very beginning until the end.
The love games between Riftan and Max got me hooked without question, bringing a lot of spice to their story. I often found myself cheering for them as Riftan tried to get close to his wife and, just as it seemed he finally succeeded, she would back out. Bummer! I just kept reading to find out whether Riftan will finally win his wife over.
