Long Chen
Long Chen is the protagonist of the Nine Star Hegemon Body Art novel. He is handsome, with sword-like eyebrows and eyes like the stars. At the beginning of the novel, he is a sixteen-year-old teenager, who keeps on being bullied by others. He is not cultivated at all, which makes him an easy target.
After a near-death experience, Chen learns that Pill Sovereign’s soul had merged with his. This happening made him have a collective memory with Pill Sovereign, thus learning about Nine Star Hegemon Body Art. Seeing that there are other ways of life, he makes a solemn promise to rise above everyone.
Thanks to his intuition and cultivation, he manages to guess a conspiracy within the empire, involving his father and the Emperor himself. Knowing there are multiple obstacles ahead, Long Chen will not be stopped by anything in his track. His focus is solely on destroying the conspiracy.

Long Chen’s adoptive mother is married to the border Suppression Marquis, Zhenyuan Hou, who left for the wild border. Mrs. Long, along with her son had suffered many condescending gazes from people in the empire, even speculating about her family.
Long Chen challenges Zhou YaoYang when the latter ridicules our protagonist by saying that his father is so successful that he can’t be his son. Chen understood this as an accusation of his mother not being faithful to his father, thus engaging in a fight with Zhou that led to his near-death experience.
Han Wei
Han Wei is the sworn sister of Long Chen. She has delicate features, long, black, wavy hair, and eyes as cold as ice. Throughout the story, she is devoted to Chen, as he is to her. They feel an instant connection as soon as they meet, making Long Chen spill his secrets to her right on the spot.
She is a Great Emperor that truly cares about her sworn brother, breaking his heart upon leaving him alone. She uses her own life to seal the Ancient Battlefield, but even though she had been dead for thousands of years, Chen’s heartache will not diminish whatsoever.
Their sweet bond shows another side of Chen. He is capable of loving, cherishing, and being faithful to a woman without being romantically linked to her.
Ming Cangyue
Throughout his story, Long Chen meets many, many attractive women who wish to bed him. Only a few succeed and one of them is Ming Cangyue. Sparks fly everywhere, their love is so intense, it could easily freeze the Underworld.
Ming is the cold Goddess of the Underworld, always wearing a poker face and being harsh with everyone, except for Chen. He is the only one that can melt her heart.
Long Chen takes her purity at Sky Martial Continent when he mistakes her for Leng Yueyan. Little does she know that this little encounter of hers will bring her world upside down, as she falls in love with Chen.

The encounter between Long Chen and the Seventh Prince seemed a little off, especially since their last meeting was so unpleasant. Chen would have to do his best to make a good impression since the prince was Chu Yao’s brother, thus he will become his brother-in-law.
Unexpectedly, the Prince was very nice to Chen, asking him to call him by his name, Chu Feng. Chu Yao had previously told him that the Prince’s arrogance was only a facade to protect himself, but Chen felt a little bit doubtful.
After pouring some tea, Chen cut to the chase and asked the Prince what was the reason for his visit. After hesitating, Chu Feng said that Empress Dowager announced that Chu Yao will be married to Xia Changfeng in October.
Many thoughts went through Chen’s mind, even murder. This news wasn’t surprising to him, yet it still pierced his heart like an arrow. The Prince got on his knees and begged Long Chen to save his sister, a promise he had already made and was determined to keep, no matter the consequences. The sword of Ying Hou seemed unstoppable. He used Earth Class Battle Skill which was above all the skills Chen might have. For the first time since his near-death experience, Long Chen felt like he was facing the darkness again. Surprisingly, he felt calm. His mind left his body and was watching the events from afar. An out-of-body experience.
Unbeknownst to him, his FengFu Star was waiting for enlightenment. The twelve cyclones suddenly grew and the energy surged through Long Chen’s meridians, preparing a vicious attack. Once it exploded, both enemies were sent flying back.
Long Chen felt millions of cuts on his body, blood flowing continuously from each wound. Ying Hou was just as hurt as Chen. Even his sword had shattered into millions of fragments. The loss of blood caused Long Chen to feel dizzy and pass out, not before giving Ying Hou the chance to flee.

Long Chen finally opened his eyes, unaware of where he is or for how long he had been unconscious. Getting up fast and having lost a lot of blood caused him to lose his balance and almost fall to the ground.
Just a light move of his hand caused his wound to open and bleed and it revealed that he still had splinters from Ying Hou’s sword. He decided it was time he consumed Blood Clotting pills and start taking out the sword fragments.
The danger wasn’t over for him, wild eyes were watching him, so he dragged himself to the mountain. After walking for ten miles, he finally reached the river and crawled on top of a floating tree and flowed along the river for a full day.
Now it was time to find a safe place to let his wounds heal. Just as he was heading toward a cave, he saw a Cliff Leopard attack him viciously. A brutal fight ensues between Long Chen and the leopard, causing Chen’s wounds to open and bleed again.
Just as he was about to give up and prepare to die, Chen felt someone pour a warm liquid and his body floating. Someone was taking him away from the Cliff Leopard. A sweet, beautiful, feminine voice kept telling him that he needed to complete his missions, fight his enemies, and become strong. Who was that woman? Why was she helping him?
Meanwhile, Ying Hou was lying on a bed, completely black now that the poison took over his body. The fourth prince couldn’t believe that Chen had mastered such a well-thought plan. He could never understand how Long Chen was able to escape from Ying Hou. There was no doubt that he underestimated Chen.

I have read my fair share of books from different genres, from fantasy and romance to horror and futuristic but I gotta say that I have never seen such an intriguing, well-mixed book such as Nine Star Hegemony Body Art. It has everything you want: action, fantasy world, alchemy, love interest, revenge, schemes, and even hot sex.
The web novel presents itself as a series, the supporting characters keep changing, some of them lose their lives, some of them leave, and some even come back. Beautiful women come and go, leaving Long Chen sometimes happy, and sometimes in despair.
Anyway, the novel is catchy, it combines interesting elements of fantasy with action and romance. It is a real pleasure to keep up with the characters, as they all interact with the protagonist, changing his life in one way or another.
