Free Chapters from Unscentable by Jennifer Francis

True to the novel’s title, Unscentable tells us a story about a she-wolf whose scent is masked or hidden for every other character. The novel itself also talks about the rejection that the main male and female characters experience. Piper Whitlock, the lonely she-wolf from the Black Haven pack since her childhood, is the female lead of the Unscentable novel.

Piper’s loneliness is because no werewolves can smell her, including werewolves in her pack. Alpha Bradley Drake, her mate from the same pack, even leaves Piper due to her unscented nature, for Hadley, another female character in the Unscentable novel.

Piper eventually has to take on a brave decision to reject the Alpha of her pack, which results in her becoming a rogue. She arranges her living conditions and uses her fashion design skills to create several gowns for other she-wolves under the pen name of Piper Harper.

However, Piper’s rejection doesn’t seem to affect Bradley. He sends his Beta to demand Piper to make the famous Piper Harper gown. So, will Bradley reconsiders Piper? Or, will he continue to choose Hadley?

Part 1: The Author Of Unscentable

Unscentable by Jennifer Francis

Jennifer Francis is the author’s full name, and she usually goes with Jenna as her nickname. This Unscentable author is from an English-speaking country, which is no surprise for the Unscentable novel that she writes that tells lots of elements that belong in English-speaking countries, like Portland and Sydney, Australia.

Jenna is a different writer to other Dreame writers, not only because she is one of the rare Australian writer populations on the platform. The ways Jenna composes her stories are also different from other authors these days that rely on many online writing tools.

As the author of her books (including the Unscentable novel), Jenna is proud that she sticks to conventional ways of writing. She would put notes on paper before she publishes the story. When we read the author’s bio, we get that she gets inspiration to edit the pieces more easily through these ways.

No wonder that Unscentable and other Jennifer Francis novels’ stories tend to move slowly (but also surely and smoothly).

So, these things don’t only highlight Jennifer Francis’ (a.k.a Jenna’s) abilities to write werewolf dramas that involve young adults as the main characters. This whole storyline things also differentiate Jenna from the rest of the authors, particularly in the word count.

Part 2: Free Chapters From Unscentable

Unscentable Chapter 3

Unscentable Chapter 3

Chapter 3 of Unscentable doesn’t only become one of the free chapters that tell the stories according to Bradley’s POV, nor that it only stops in becoming an introductory chapter where we see more portions of Bradley’s personality and people around him, including his quietly charismatic Beta, Cooper, and Hadley, his girlfriend.

Jennifer Francis opens up Chapter 3 of Unscentable by picturing Bradley’s dissatisfaction upon knowing that the Piper Harper woman behind the gown designs is so rude to kick Cooper out and tear every hope on the Piper Harper gown that Hadley has been dying for. Plus, none of the wolves are certain if the designer is a human or a wolf.

The remaining wolves of the Black Haven pack in Unscentable novel think that this woman is a human because she doesn’t smell like a wolf. However, they are surprised when they know this seemingly-quiet woman is not intimidated by Cooper’s, and Steel, Cooper’s wolf’s, presence.

Even then, Bradley finds that his Alpha presence does nothing to intimidate the Piper Harper woman into making the gown once again. It’s also through this chapter that Bradley and the remaining wolf packs know that Piper is a werewolf through looking at her rare white wolf eyes.

Unscentable Chapter 5

Unscentable Chapter 5

Chapter 5 is one of the majority of the Unscentable chapters that tell the stories according to Piper’s POV. Here, we know that the chapter is not only all about Piper or her wolf, Harper. Rather, we get big portions of Brandon’s personality. Brandon himself is the heroic young Alpha candidate of the Black Haven pack who becomes the only confidante for Piper and Harper.

Brandon calls Piper “Mommy”, which signifies the strong links between the two Unscentable wolf characters. The chapter’s story opens up by telling us that Piper and Brandon are having a vacation in Portland. As we progress through the chapter’s stories, we know that there is another she-wolf who tries to ruin the vacations.

Brandon may be a child wolf and unscented, just like his mommy. However, Brandon is a heroic soul who is not afraid to fight living beings, including any werewolves who try to mess around with his mommy. He is also an Alpha candidate, which means he has the strong abilities to emit Alpha aura and combat skills.

little Brandon proves his combat skills in Chapter 5 of the Unscentable novel by fighting the she-wolf. Even Harper, Piper’s wolf, feels astonished upon looking at how physically fit the mini-Alpha-to-be in front of her is.

Upon reading Chapter 5 of Unscentable, I’m also loving it that Brandon helps Piper to firmly set her boundaries, while Piper helps Brandon to learn self-control from an early age.

Unscentable Chapter 9

Unscentable Chapter 9

Chapter 9 is yet another chapter in the Unscentable novel that tells the stories according to Piper’s POV by telling the continuity of Piper and Brandon’s holidays in a hotel suite. However, this chapter is different in that Chapter 9 happens after Alpha Bradley, Piper’s ex-Goddess-given mate searches for Piper’s name through online searches so crazily.

We also know that little Brandon has a wolf named Aspen, and the two vow to protect Piper at all costs. More surprisingly, Brandon has spoken to Aspen in the last six months.

Other werewolf stories tend to emphasize werewolves and shewolves who interact with their wolves after they turn 17. However, this one’s involving a child werewolf, which makes the story even more unusual and interesting to read.

Not only that Piper and Harper love the bravery that both Brandon and Aspen have. Chapter 9 of Unscentable also proves to me that Piper is an excellent mommy. She doesn’t turn down Brandon’s questions by saying to him things like, “You can only get your wolves after 17,” Yet, she directs Brandon to control Aspen, particularly in dangerous situations.

Another interesting thing that I get from reading Chapter 9 of Unscentable lies in Brandon’s eventual love interest to Celeste, a girl whom the wolves meet at Alpha Timothy’s house. I won’t be surprised if Jenna as the author makes another sequel that involves Brandon-Celeste relationships in the future.
