Kat Tanner, the female MC of Marriage Of Inconvenience, was the famous Kathleen Tyson before she changed her name. She has a quite terrible adolescence, despite her status as a billionaire heiress. I’m guessing that she has been everywhere in public media, and that she has gone tired with her old life. So, she changes her name.
At the same time, Kat doesn’t lose her determination in deciding good things for herself. The Marriage Of Inconvenience that she plans with her choice of man is an interesting one for me, too, because the man should be both trustworthy and romantically indifferent to her.
Dan O’Malley
In Marriage Of Inconvenience, Dan O’Malley firstly appears as Dan the Security Man. He has been a long-time crush of Kat since she was still Kathleen. When I read the first few chapters of Marriage Of Inconvenience, I thought Dan O’Malley and Dan the Security Man were different people, and I turn out to be wrong.
If there were one personality trait that Dan surely has, that one trait is his trustworthiness, regardless of how he feels toward Kat. He also shares the same degrees of insecurities as Kat in embarking on new relationship journeys.
Steven
Steven has been Kat’s best friend since she was Kathleen. We know Steven from reading the first few chapters of Marriage Of Inconvenience. Steven may look promising as Kathleen’s confidante, however, he’s not one to ask for the contract marriage, because he is dating his boyfriend.
Even though we don’t quite see Steven’s appearances in further chapters of Marriage Of Inconvenience, we know Steven’s advice for Kathleen’s (later: Kat’s) relationships is valuable. Thanks to him that Kat can discover her one true love.

The first parts of Marriage Of Inconvenience novel are focused around the lives of a famous Pharmaceutical billionaire heiress named Kathleen Tyson. Kathleen’s parents are both receiving treatments; her father is hospitalized due to his Alzheimer’s, while her mother has schizophrenia and has been institutionalized for several years.
Kathleen herself has committed so many juvenile delinquencies during her teenage years. Alcohols, drugs, hook-ups, and the likes, are not foreign things for her.
These entire things become excuses for Kathleen’s cousin to claim guardianship over her by proving that she’s mentally incapacitated. According to her family’s lawyer, the only solution for Kathleen is to have a Marriage Of Inconvenience.
In this novel, a Marriage Of Inconvenience means that Kathleen should get a trustworthy husband to thwart her cousin’s plan in claiming guardianship over her. It doesn’t matter if the husband doesn’t love her back, at least, he is willing to fight the malicious cousin.
Starting from this part in Marriage Of Inconvenience, Kathleen begins to seek help from her closest ones. She even goes further by changing her name into Kat Tanner. She has thought of some male figures in her life, until she finds out her long-time crush as the husband candidate: Dan O’Malley a.k.a. Dan the Security Man.
