"You weren't supposed to be engaged in this Sab," I noticed from the corner of my vision, his limping form attempting to approach me... "Please, Sabrina, flee..."
"I can't, not with you in this condition," I say slowly, cradling my bleeding arm... "If this is my final act, I'm glad I'll be giving my life for you. If death must come, it must show up though me to take you."
"Please, Sab, you know she needs us. She is patiently waiting for us to arrive and rescue her." He pushed tears from his eyes, attempting to maintain a firm demeanor. "Only you have the ability to save her. We can't abandon a little life in this world among these beasts".
"Ticktock lovebirds, time is up. Now tell me who will say farewell first." Our most dangerous adversary appeared, and "you have no idea how long I have been waiting to avenge my father's death from you both."
"What are you on about?" I inquired. I have no idea who his father was or how he was linked to any of us.
"Let her go, kill me. She is not involved in any of this.
"Do you think I'm stupid... I know who reported my father's unlawful operations, which led to his detention," He shot back.
"That's me. I contacted the cops... murder me, but please let her go." For the first time, I witnessed my spouse pleading in front of someone, his eyes filled with fear, but not of death, but of something I couldn't place.
"As you wish, friend, but does she know about the disguise you're wearing?" He burst out laughing like crazy.
"She does..., she is aware of it," he says, indicating that I must act and that now is not the time to argue. "Do you truly believe I would hide something that vital from my wife?"
"Oh, I assumed you did," he said, not believing our tales but pretending to. "Now that it is requested let's get on with the work at hand. Maybe when you're gone, I'll have some fun with He pointed his gun at my husband, who began shouting in concern for me.
"Sab... just flee... you need to get away." I wiped the tears from my eyes and searched for anything that could aid us in our escape. "Sabrina, you must begin living for both of us today. My life is now your responsibility. You must live your life to the utmost for both of us."
"Oh, come on, just finish your poetry words already," he said as he drew his gun's lock.
Then he said the words I had been waiting to hear: "I Love You, Sabrina... you are the best thing that has ever happened to me."
