Werewolf Book Review: He’s My Mate

He’s My Mate tells us a story about an 18-year-old she-wolf named Athena of the Moonlight Pack, whose grandmother is a Moon Goddess and her grandfather is an Alpha King. Her twin sister, Vanessa, is the mean girl in the story who continually puts her down, calls her a freak and takes every possible chance to humiliate her… Just because Athena doesn’t have a wolf.

Athena’s life begins to change after she turned 18-year-old and attended her grandfather’s annual masquerade ball at the Royal Kingdom. There, she began to notice Venus, the guardian wolf in her, which belongs to the strongest wolf species in the whole werewolf universe. She also started to see Alex Gemstone of the Gemstone pack, her mate.

Too bad, Alex and his Beta, Thor, don’t seem to like her. Alex prefers Vanessa, and he kisses Vanessa in front of Athena at the masquerade party. However, Athena knows that Alex is not Vanessa’s mate, just like Hector, her long-time confidante, and crush, is not her mate.

Now, Athena and Venus would stop at nothing to reclaim Athena’s mate. After all, Alex is her mate!

Part 1: Meet The Characters Of He’s My Mate

Athena and Vanessa

Athena and Vanessa of He’s My Mate are twin daughters of the Alpha King’s daughter and the granddaughters of the Moon Goddess. Given their upbringings, both of them can be the Alpha depending on how they get their wolves and mates.

Vanessa is always evil to her twin sister, Athena, as she would always tries to fabricate stories about Athena’s mate. Athena may not seem to be more powerful or possess more wolf abilities than Vanessa. However, Venus, her wolf, is a guardian wolf, which belongs to the strongest species in the werewolf-verse, and is more powerful than Vanessa’s wolf, Jewel.

Hector

Hector of He’s My Mate is the son of Athena and Vanessa’s father’s Beta, and he has grown up in the same environment as Athena. He is the only werewolf in the story who doesn’t make fun of Athena and always does his best to lift Athena’s confidence.

No wonder Athena’s feelings for him grow, and I can feel her sadness upon knowing that Hector isn’t her mate. I’m annoyed at the ways Vanessa uses these things to make the stories all about her.

Alex Gemstone

Alpha Alex’s role in the He’s My Mate novel doesn’t stop at being the Alpha of the Gemstone pack. He is also a werewolf who has trained himself in a soldier-like environment, which highlights his physical abilities.

Alex should be Athena’s mate and not Vanessa’s, no matter how hard he tries to reject Athena as his mate. To me, he shouldn’t drive Athena crazy by kissing Vanessa in front of her eyes, but, that’s what he does.

Part 2: Story About He’s My Mate

The story of He’s My Mate novel begins by telling us the story according to Athena’s perspectives. Her evil twin sister, Vanessa, has called her a freak, and she has been mentally abused repeatedly by her twin sister and everyone around her, except Hector, despite her amazing upbringing.

Athena of the Moonlight pack in He’s My Mate is the granddaughter of the Moon Goddess. Her grandfather is an Alpha King, and the Beta, Benson, is married to a woman named Alice and they have a child named Hector. Hector is the only one in Athena’s circle who doesn’t bully Athena. Sometimes, he would defend Athena and restore her self-confidence.

Athena hopes her relationship with Hector will grow further than just best friends. Unfortunately, he is not her mate. Worse, she has difficulties in shifting and finding her wolf. The mean-spirited Vanessa got Jewel as her wolf first, which turns her into a beautiful white wolf with immense fighting abilities.

As we turn the pages to read the chapters in, He’s My Mate, we also know that, later on, Athena can awaken Venus by hearing the voices of her subconscious. As soon as Athena and Venus discover Alex Gemstone as Athena’s mate, they stop at nothing in bringing Alex back to her from kissing Vanessa in front of her eyes.

Part 3: Hot Chapters of He’s My Mate

He’s My Mate Chapter 1

Chapter 1 of He’s My Mate doesn’t only come across like any other opening chapter for werewolf romance stories on the Dreame platform that tells the story based on the main heroine’s POVs. Instead, the chapter also tells us about Athena’s family structures apart from Vanessa’s.

Another interesting thing about this introductory chapter is that this chapter tells things that happen on Athena’s birthday. Vanessa makes fun of Athena who doesn’t appear to have a wolf, which leads Athena to punch her mercilessly and the two have brutal fighting scenes in this chapter.

He’s My Mate Chapter 3

“Newness” is the central theme of Chapter 3 in He’s My Mate novel since this chapter introduces us to the names of other characters than Athena and Vanessa. More specifically, chapter 3 tells us the stories according to Angel’s POV (Athena and Vanessa’s mom), and Alex’s POV (Athena’s mate).

Here, we see how a mother relates to her twin daughters by using her mind-linking abilities and connections with other people (Hector and the doctors) to help the wounded Athena. On the other hand, we also get a glimpse at Alex’s attempts to reject Athena as his mate and prefer the evil Vanessa.

Part 4: Meet The Author Of He’s My Mate

We get the author’s name of ZPearson25 when we seek who’s the author behind, the He’s My Mate novel. ZPearson25 is one of Dreame’s Next Top Writers, and we can see this thing in the author’s badge when we visit ZPearson25’s profile.

He’s My Mate is ZPearson25’s most viewed novel among three novels that the author has written on the Dreame platform. So far, the novel has got more than 117K reads.

I can see myself in Athena of He’s My Mate, even though I don’t have such evil twins. However, I’ve experienced bullying and mental abuse, and I also know this particular male figure in my life who doesn’t bully me.

Then, again, I see ZPearson25 as a specialist in not only writing werewolf romance stories. The stories almost always involve physical and mental abuse, and the storylines are relatable for people who struggle with the long-term abuse effects on their well-being. No wonder the author becomes one of the Next Top Writers.
