The stories of “The Luna Choosing Game” are as twisted as the novel’s title. It all starts with Piper, a young lady who works to take care of her half-sister’s daughter.

Piper is tired of her 14 hours of non-stop work as the restaurant’s waitress until her Boss forces her to participate as one of the Queen candidates in The Luna Choosing Game.

What happens when Piper bumps over Nicholas, her princely ex, in the game?

Part 1: The Worthy-To-Read Chapters Of The Luna Choosing Game Novel

Chapter 1

“Either you come to me at night, or you’re fired,” is Piper’s Boss’ statement that threatens her in The Luna Choosing Game Chapter 1. Even though Piper gets tired from her 14 straight hours of working as the restaurant’s waitress, she generally doesn’t want to involve herself in the famous Luna Choosing Game in the Werewolf Kingdom.

She knows the mind-blowing surprises that await her if she participates in the game. Yet, she has no choice but to obey her Boss. After all, Piper needs the money to nurse for her hospitalized daughter. Even though Piper never planned for a daughter with her ex, that was how her ex treated her and conspired with her sister in executing malicious plans for Piper. So, will Piper meet her ex in the game she never wants to participate in?

Chapter 5

Chapter 5 doesn’t only talk about Piper’s unpleasant encounters with Nicholas, her ex. It also tells stories about Elva, who should be Piper’s identical twin sister’s daughter instead of her daughter. However, Piper’s status with and love for Nicholas lets her claim and treat Elva as her daughter. After all, Nicholas is furious that Piper flees with Elva while breaking up with him.

As per the technical rules, Nicholas is not supposed to be left alone without any contestants accompanying him. However, The Luna Choosing Game Chapter 5 shows this rule is an exception to Nicholas. Nicholas uses his status in the Werewolf Kingdom to force the guards to give an exception to his case with Piper. At least, having obtained such a privilege, nobody would ever dare to body-shame Piper the same way we see in this chapter’s early paragraph.

Part 2: The Main Story Of The Luna Choosing Game Novel

The Luna Choosing Game doesn’t only stay as the novel’s title. Instead, the game is an integral part of the novel’s storyline. The game involves single princes in the Werewolf Kingdom seeking and getting ready to be matched with the girls who participate in the game.

The Werewolf Kingdom, which belongs to one of the central elements in The Luna Choosing Game novel, requires the girls to be around 18-22 and still virgins. Then, the Kingdom will use the ancient power to determine the winners of the princes’ hearts. All princes are handsome, including Nicholas, Piper’s ex-boyfriend.

Piper herself is a young woman who works at one of the restaurants in the Werewolf Kingdom. She is never big on The Luna Choosing Game, for she understands the consequences of becoming the “winner”.

Instead, Piper keeps herself busy working as the restaurant’s waitress. After all, she needs money, not only to survive in the Werewolf Kingdom but also to nurse Elva, her hospitalized daughter. Even though Elva is not fully her daughter, Piper treats Elva and refers to her as her daughter. In other words, Elva means everything to Piper.

However, Piper’s patience hits the limit, and she has become tired in her 14 hours of non-stop work as the waitress. So, it drives her Boss nuts, as the Boss requires the employees’ productivity amid the financial crises that plague the Kingdom. So, the Boss forces Piper to participate in The Luna Choosing Game. Else, she will get fired.

Such a thing produces a dilemma in Piper’s mind. Her mind goes on more rampage when she sees Nicholas’ face on the TV screen as one of the lineups in The Luna Choosing Game. Then, a series of questions, such as, “How will she break the Elva news to him?” and “How will she deal with the rest of the participants who question her virginity?” pop up in her mind, as she plays a game, she knows she doesn’t have to participate in.

Part 3: The Analysis Of The Luna Choosing Game Novel

The Luna Choosing Game looks like a workplace-dominated novel when it comes to the novel’s first few paragraphs. From what I read in the novel’s chapters; it seems the Boss punishes Piper to participate in the game that even the company’s employees don’t want to participate in. The Boss only knows Piper professionally, but not personally.

Yet, the Boss is a toxic employer, and Anna, Piper’s best friend, knows his antics so well. He is an example of a micro-managing, harassing, and greedy Boss. However, the workplace that takes place in the restaurant where Piper works isn’t the only focus that we see in The Luna Choosing Game novel.

Instead, The Luna Choosing Game, the bachelor-bachelorette game, is the focus. I usually read about the mating ceremony between a Luna and her (usually) higher-ranking mate. Yet, the bachelor-bachelorette game gives more interactive and competitive touches to the novel. I love this approach, as it vividly describes the struggles and step-by-step executions in the process of choosing a Luna.

The all-handsome princes showing as the game’s lineups at the TV show don’t only serve to encourage the single and lonely girls to participate. Instead, their gimmick ads are in line with Piper’s admission processes. I mean, how come a no-longer-virgin woman like Piper could be admitted to the show? After all, Piper has reached beyond the maximum required age for the participant.

Nicholas, Piper’s ex-boyfriend in The Luna Choosing Game, could have been the behind-the-scene face. He might not want to see Piper’s ugly face ever. Yet, he wants to see Elva, the daughter who is supposed to be Piper’s half-sister’s daughter.

Part 4: Read A Similar Novel To The Luna Choosing Game

Playful and dangerous are two things that have close ties to any game, including the Werewolf Kingdom’s version of the bachelor and bachelorette game known as “The Luna Choosing Game”. Single, lonely, and desperate girls might feel the thrills of winning the handsome princes’ attention, even if it only existed in their wild fantasy. However, some of these princes are not that “prince-like” in their behaviors, which pose dangers for some participants.

Piper has faced “double trouble” in The Luna Choosing Game novel. First, her half-sister impersonates her and steals her ex-boyfriend’s attention from her. It results in Elva, Piper’s daughter, having mixed status throughout the novel. Second, Piper has no other choice but to participate in the bachelor-bachelorette game, otherwise, she would get fired and unpaid.

I smell some cheating elements when I read about Piper’s half-sister’s affairs with Nicholas. However, The Luna Choosing Game doesn’t quite emphasize this part. So, I recommend you to read The Alpha King Call Boy if you wish for a novel with similar storylines to The Luna Choosing Game, yet, with more visible betrayal elements in the novel.

In The Alpha King Call Boy, Fiona is supposed to be a perfect Luna, until she discovers her fiancé’s betrayal. Then, she calls upon a call boy for a one-night stand in her extreme desperation. When Fiona’s time is out, she is about to pay for the call boy, and she is pregnant with the call boy’s child, the call boy reveals himself as the future Alpha King a.k.a. Fiona’s ex-fiancé’s boss.
