Part 1: The Main Story Of Sour Souls: The Morningstar Series Book 6

Emilia “Emi” Every Moore of Sour Souls: The Morningstar Series Book 6 never has a loving family experience. All people would think she and her mother are a perfect mom-and-daughter couple. Yet, Emilia’s mother is no different than her stepfather and the people around her who mistreat her.

In Sour Souls: The Morningstar Series Book 6, Emilia has always been the invisible kid because her mother always stops her from reaching her potential. Not only does her mother never listen to her, but her mother also remarries another random male werewolf named Dave of the Blue Water pack.

Dave is an abusive werewolf, even though he is only a Beta. He joins Emilia’s mother in ignoring her and treating her as if she was nothing. They are only kind to Emilia when people are watching. Then, Dave would always find excuses to punish and torture Emilia. Such things make both of Emilia’s parents in Sour Souls: The Morningstar Series Book 6 narc parents.

Unfortunately, Emilia hasn’t cultivated her awareness of narcissistic behaviors that she ended up reacting to her father when she was 16. As a result, somebody frames Emilia as Dave’s killer, which means dire consequences for her.

So, Emilia has to spend her life imprisoned in a dungeon. Even though Emilia finally can communicate with her wolf (thanks to the Alpha’s act in unconsciously awakening her power), it’s difficult for her to get permission to go outside.

Emilia’s life turns around after five years when she meets the Alpha King, the force behind the investigation of the pack where she gets imprisoned. That time is when she unravels another mystery of her life: She is not a werewolf, but instead, a banshee mated to the Alpha King! How will Emilia deal with the shocking news?

Part 2: The Characters Of Sour Souls: The Morningstar Series Book 6

Emilia “Emi” Every Moore

Kind-hearted, devoted, caring, protective, and intelligent: Emilia Every Moore of Sour Souls: The Morningstar Series Book 6 has all the characteristics that draw narcissistic individuals closer to her. When I observe her family dynamics, I know it’s because Emilia’s parents are narcs.

Emilia is only referred to as “Emi” and receives kindness from her parents when people look at them. Still, it doesn’t stop her from doing acts of kindness to people around her. I’m hopeful Emilia will break free from the abuse in her mind!

Dave and Kara

Kara is Emi’s mother, while Beta Dave of the Blue Water pack is the male werewolf whom she remarries. Neither of these demonic beings cares for Emilia unless they see it as a beneficial act to save their face. In Sour Souls: The Morningstar Series Book 6, Dave and Kara always have excuses to punish and torture Emilia.

After Kara dies, Dave continues his evil acts by unleashing his rage on Noah, Emilia’s younger brother. Dave suddenly dies in the middle of his abuse of Emilia and Noah. Yet, Emilia doesn’t kill him, as if it were somebody else’s act, and Alpha Frederick frames Emilia as her father’s killer.

Ares Morningstar

Ares is an integral character in Sour Souls: The Morningstar Series Book 6, as he is the key to Emilia’s freedom. He is the Alpha King who investigates the murder mysteries happening in the Blue Water pack, the pack where Alpha Frederick and Emilia’s tormentors reside.

The Alpha King Ares is more than shocked to find out that Emilia is his mate. Not stopping there, he also finds out his mate is not a werewolf, but a banshee with werewolf blood and mate! Ares is one of the most mysterious but crucial characters in Sour Souls: The Morningstar Series Book 6.

Part 3: Some Analysis Of Sour Souls: The Morningstar Series Book 6

Adult children of narc parents would identify themselves with Emilia’s characteristics in Sour Souls: The Morningstar Series Book 6. At the same time, as one of those people, I am proud of Emilia’s persistence in cultivating positive words for her little brother. That way, she doesn’t end up like her parents.

When I read the blurb of Sour Souls: The Morningstar Series Book 6, I initially thought Emilia’s stepfather was the abusive figure as he finds pleasure in torturing Emilia in the cruelest ways possible. Yet, I change my mind when I turn the pages to the first chapter of Sour Souls: The Morningstar Series Book 6.

There, I see Emilia’s mother is also a narc figure. Narcs love all attention on themselves. They won’t take responsibility for what they’ve done or admit their weaknesses. They never change, and they love to play blame games. To evil mothers like Emilia’s mother, their children are only tools to advance through their delusions.

Emilia’s belief in authentic love is the thing that motivates her to keep doing good to people around her. She eventually releases her wolf power in the dungeon, and I see her wolf is strong enough to endure Alpha Frederick’s mockery. She doesn’t need a powerful figure to rescue her, even though she gets the Alpha King’s attention nearing the end of her suffering.

A take-home message I get from reading this novel is, “God will never let good people suffer for their lifetime,” Another positive affirmation I see repeatedly (and I like the most) in this novel is, “I am kind. I am worthy. I am strong,” which Emi has taught to Noah since his early age.
