Best Book Review: Forsaken By My Mate

The Forsaken By My Mate novel follows a story about Sabrina “Bree” Morris, a she-wolf from the Stone Moon pack, who meets her mate, Alpha Nico Hughes of the Golden Summit pack, at her best friend’s wedding party.

To her shock, when she was about to introduce Nico to her parents, Nico has already danced with another woman, who happens to be a human and his chosen Luna.

Nico hasn’t marked Shelby, his chosen human Luna who has been together with him for three years, yet. Shelby is not only a jealous woman, but she is also highly physical and materialistic, as she only seems to want sex with the stunning-looking Alpha Nico. As with other romantic foe relationships, these two women – Shelby and Bree – would always avoid each other.

As we read the Forsaken By My Mate novel, we also learn that Bree can’t take it anymore. She rejects Nico as her Goddess-given mate. Yet, Nico doesn’t accept Bree’s rejection and continues to humiliate Bree by begging for her comebacks because he desperately needs heirs that he believes Shelby can’t provide him with.

Nico Hughes of Forsaken By My Mate can’t choose both women! Bree would also have to think about her second-chance mate to replace Nico who has marked her, abandoned her, yet, refused to let her go.

Part 1: Meet The Characters Of Forsaken By My Mate

Sabrina “Bree” Morris

Sabrina Morris (or “Bree”, as she is referred to in Forsaken By My Mate) is an athletic-looking she-wolf from the Stone Moon pack with attractive wavy brown hair. It’s not a surprise since she regularly attends Alpha Training sessions with her pack members. She is also a she-wolf who can socialize well with the rest of the Forsaken By My Mate werewolves of her pack.

Bree is the mate of Alpha Nico Hughes of the Golden Summit pack. Too bad, her mate chooses a human Luna whom he can’t mark. Besides, Alpha Nico is only interested in having heirs with her, which puts Bree’s parents into a disgusting mode when they look at Nico’s face.

Nico Hughes

Alpha Nico Hughes is the main male character of Forsaken By My Mate. Like any other Alpha character, Nico is a highly attractive man with awesome physical power. Nico is supposed to be Bree’s Goddess-given mate because she has smelled him at her best friend’s wedding party, and he has marked Bree, too.

Unfortunately, Nico has chosen the materialistic human, Shelby, as his Luna. It doesn’t matter if Nico has previously been traumatized by werewolf-to-werewolf relationships. After all, it’s also Nico’s decision to refuse Bree’s rejection, and he has to own his responsibility by accepting that the Stone Moon pack members kick him out.

Shelby

Shelby of Forsaken By My Mate is the materialistic and highly-possessive girlfriend of Alpha Nico. Throughout the stories in Forsaken By My Mate, it’s getting clearer that Shelby only loves Nico for his body. Plus, Shelby would always make excuses to demand physical connections with the man who doesn’t even mark her and is already a mate to somebody else.

We also get it that Shelby has never flirted with Nico’s Beta, and she never regrets it. Let’s just hope that Nico realizes his faults, ditch Shelby from his life, and does not just separate Shelby from Bree and vice versa.

Part 2: Story About Forsaken By My Mate

The wedding party of Sabrina “Bree” Morris’ best friend, Jade, with Asher, Jade’s mate and also Bree’s brother, highlights the place setting for the first chapter in the Forsaken By My Mate novel. The place also highlights the first place where Bree smells her mate, Alpha Nico Hughes, who continues to ignore her as he walks by.

Nicole, one of Bree’s friends, worries about Bree so she directs Bree to meet her parents. Her parents watch as Bree points to the distant-looking Nico who dances with another woman, who happens to be a human female. Later on, in the chapters of Forsaken By My Mate, we also learn that the woman’s name is Shelby.

Shelby is not only a possessive human female. She is also a highly physical person who takes too much pride in other living beings’ appearances. We can see in the early chapters of Forsaken By My Mate that she doesn’t only flaunt her attractive body features, but she also continually demands Alpha Nico to have sex with her.

It’s clear that Shelby only loves Nico for his body and physical strengths. Even so, Nico continues to reject Bree’s rejection toward him upon knowing all about his romantic relationships. Nico also humiliates Bree and the entire Stone Moon pack members by saying that he only wants Bree to give birth to the heirs.

Part 3: Meet The Author Of Forsaken By My Mate

KatVonBeck is not a foreign name in Dreame when we look for authors of werewolf romance stories. After all, KatVonBeck is one of the specialists in Dreame to write everything about werewolf romance stories. Forsaken By My Mate is not an exception here.

When we look at the lists of other Dreame books that KatVonBeck has authored, we know that Forsaken By My Mate is one of her newest-updated books. The most recent update until the time I write this review was on August 3, 2022, the same updating time as her other werewolf story.

Another interesting thing about the Forsaken By My Mate book is that it is a sequel to KatVonBeck’s first novel in Dreame. The difference is that KatVonBeck’s first novel tells the stories mainly based on Jade, one of Bree’s best friends, while the majority of chapters in Forsaken By My Mate tell the stories based on Bree’s perspective.

When I look back at KatVonBeck’s other written novels on Dreame, it’s becoming clearer to me that this woman is not only skilled in writing everything about werewolves. She also has written a human story that involves a playboy human boss.

Then, again, playboy (or cheating, betrayal, rejection, or whatever similar themes) tends to be KatVonBeck’s one major theme. I look forward to other books that KatVonBeck will write in the future, particularly with different themes.
