The Holiday Swap Read Online

Like their official term, it’s always hard to distinguish a pair of identical twins by only looking at their appearances. Men can also confuse themselves when they face identical twin sisters, just like the twin female MCs in The Holiday Swap. Chef Charlie Goldwin with her baking reality show is the first twin to be introduced in the novel, while Cass is her identical twin.

The twin sisters face their problems from the start of The Holiday Swap novel. The chef’s sister lost her smelling and tasting abilities due to an accident, which impacts her career as a judge. Meanwhile, Cass is trying her best in getting her life back after her ex harasses her with the memo that he keeps on bringing them up whenever they are “communicating” Or so.

Now, Cass in The Holiday Swap has to save her sister by doing a thing that they haven’t done since they were kids: Switching places doing so poses a problem that they never imagine, including problems from the confused men around them.

Part 1: Meet The Characters Of The Holiday Swap

The Goldwin Twins

The Goldwin Twins of The Holiday Swap are the twin sisters who become the MCs of the novel. Being a chef with her baking reality show, of course, Charlie Goldwin is more famous than her identical twin sister, Cass. Meanwhile, Cass is just an ordinary woman who tries her best in making a life while getting away from her spooky ex.

In my opinion, Cass has done too much work in “loving” her identical sister by switching places with her, while Charlie doesn’t do as much effort as her. I wish Charlie could do more in The Holiday Swap book.

The Guys

The guys in The Holiday Swap are the novel’s supporting characters who get confused with Charlie and Cass switching places. The two guys eventually fall in love with each sister. Anyway, the two guys are 1) The rugged firefighter named Jake Greenman, and; 2) a gorgeous-looking physician assistant named Miguel Rodriguez.

The two guys start encountering Cass first. However, Charlie’s reputation and their statuses as identical twin sisters make the two guys mistake Cass for Charlie. Sometimes, the guys are “naughty”, and at some points, the guys are doing their best to support the switching twins.

Part 2: Story Of The Holiday Swap

The first parts of The Holiday Swap novel tell us stories about a famous baking chef on TV named Charlie Goldwin, with her gigantic-sized family caf’ in LA. One day, Charlie injured herself in an accident, which resulted in her losing her two most integral senses as a celebrity chef: Taste and smell.

Meanwhile, Christmas is approaching and she has a schedule to be the judge. Of course, Charlie takes so much time in recovering that she can’t be the judge. Who else she could seek help from, if not from Cass, her identical twin sister? In The Holiday Swap, Cass is making a living by working in the family caf’ while trying her best in avoiding her possessive ex.

As Charlie’s identical twin sister who also works at the same caf’, Cass’ presence would be helpful to maintain the chef’s reputation. Problem: Cass has a fear in front of the camera. Plus, she feels awkward since Charlie begs for her to swap positions; something that they never do since their childhood.

The Holiday Swap between the identical twins confuses the men who become the audiences of the bakery shows. The two guys, Jake and Miguel, eventually create one-of-a-kind romantic stories with the twins, and their romantic scenes are full of laughter.

I would say that The Holiday Swap novel is not only filled with running gags about how similar Charlie and Cass are. Instead, The Holiday Swap novel is also the book where we learn recipes for bread, cakes, and so on. Lots of sinfully-delicious ingredients here, and we can learn to (virtually) taste the desserts, too.

Part 3: The Author Of The Holiday Swap

Maggie Knox is the pen name of the author of The Holiday Swap. It is a mixture of the two Canadian authors’ names: Karma Brown and Marissa Stapley. Both writers are internationally-recognized authors, and their books have been on every platform. Brown is an award-winning journalist, while Stapley is a former magazine editor.

The journalist-editor dynamics between the two writers are perhaps the reason why The Holiday Swap and other books by the same Maggie Knox are beautifully-written. As for The Holiday Swap, I note some inspiring quotes, such as, “Time heals all things.

But if time fails, try the cake,” and it goes especially correctly with the twins who are working so hard in maintaining their reputations in the bakery industries.

Let’s not forget the two guys in The Holiday Swap who become their biggest support systems. Who cares if they looked like the problems in the first few chapters? After all, these amazing guys are the guys who make sure Cass is doing well in replacing her twin sister in the TV show, while for Charlie, it’s for ensuring her recovery.

Overall, Maggie Knox’s The Holiday Swap has Christmas as the setting, and it is a light-hearted novel that makes the readers keep on smiling.
