Book Review: Blind to Billionaire

Blind to Billionaire is a novel in which the story focuses on Lewis Petterson, a 30-year-old retired basketball player who is also a billionaire and is supposed to marry Michelle, his long-time fiancé. Too bad, a car accident makes him in a coma state, and Michelle is never there when he needs his surgery permission documents to be signed.

As a result, Ava of St Marcus has to rush to the hospital and sign the documents, even though she is only the house worker in Petterson’s household. When she succeeded in saving Lewis’ life, she had to encounter Michelle. Later on, in the Blind to Billionaire book, we know that Michelle’s true identity is the bully Barbara from the St Marcus orphanage.

Michelle repeatedly humiliates and mocks Ava, accuses Ava of intentionally removing her soon-to-be husband’s eyes, and creates false stories about Ava amid hospital chaos, while she cares for nothing but partying endlessly and boasting to everybody else that she’s going to marry the billionaire, Lewis.

Sadly, as I read through the Blind to Billionaire novel’s chapters, it seems that the Petterson’s are normalizing Michelle’s behavior. They want to spend time with Ava and Michelle, yet, they are thankful that Ava saves their son’s life.

Part 1: Meet The Characters Of Blind to Billionaire

Ava St Marcus

Ava St Marcus is the main female character in Blind to Billionaire. St Marcus itself is an orphanage house where she used to grow up with other orphans before she works in the Petterson family’s house.

She loves reading ghost novels and sits on the family’s sofa whenever the family is busy working. So, Ava St Marcus of Blind to Billionaire may seem lazy, but she is also a helpful person. She doesn’t hesitate to take risks to save people’s lives, and she is also a woman who is never afraid to speak up for herself.

Lewis Petterson

Lewis Petterson is the main male character of the Blind to Billionaire series. Lewis’ billionaire status is inseparable from his parents’ economic status. His father, Mr. Lionel Petterson, is a successful oil business mogul. His mother, Dr. Adeline Gerald, is a psychiatrist. He is also supposed to marry his long-time fiancé, Michelle.

Too bad, the car accidents that involve his brand-new 2021 Ferrari F8 Tributo caused him to have surgeries to remove his eyes. Plus, in Blind to Billionaire, we eventually know that Lewis’ fiancé is not a good woman.

Barbara St Marcus (a.k.a. Michelle)

The bully Barbara St Marcus is the main antagonist of the Blind to Billionaire novel. She is someone who only cares for herself and the ways to maintain her status. We don’t know why she goes with Michelle as her alias, yet, we know that she’s a materialistic person who is obsessed with marrying Lewis for the sake of his money.

To me, she is not only jealous of Ava, her fellow friend in St Marcus, but she is also an evil person in general. She is boastful, and parties too much, yet, she is never willing to do the necessary things for her fiancé.

Part 2: Story about Blind Billionaire

The author of Blind to Billionaire opens up the chapters by introducing the main and supporting characters. We will see the main male character first, who is none other than Lewis Petterson.

Then, we proceed in seeing other supportive characters, such as Mr. Lionel Petterson, Lewis’ father, and his mother, Dr. Adeline Gerald, and also Eden Petterson, his adopted sister, who is about to marry the rich kid Abel, her long-time lover.

We don’t see Ava of St Marcus, the main female character of Blind to Billionaire until the last scene of the first chapter where she demands the doctors and nurses to agree for her to sign the surgery documents. As we read through the chapters, we know that Lewis’ parents are thankful that Ava saves their sons’ lives.

Suddenly, we know that Michelle, no, I mean, the bully Barbara of St Marcus, comes to the hospital. Even though the Blind to Billionaire book doesn’t mention her purpose of coming, I am sure that it’s just a formality to save her face. After all, she is a boastful and arrogant woman who only cares about herself.

She creates false stories about Ava and intentionally picks up fights with Ava, to make Ava sounds like the person who has harmed her soon-to-be husband’s life. Unfortunately, Lewis’ parents normalize her behaviors. At some points, we know that the parents even ask them to sit together with them.

What about Lewis, anyways – will he choose Ava to be his wife? Will Ava be able to escape the entire craziness that Barbara a.k.a Michelle has created?

Part 3: Meet The Author Of Blind to Billionaire

November is the pen name of the author behind the Blind to Billionaire book. When we read November’s profile, we know that the author of Blind to Billionaire is fond of coldness. Recently, the profile picture has some falling snow elements, November is a winter season in many countries, and the author’s About Me phrases further highlight the fondness.

“I think too much” is the first phrase that is all about overthinking, and in the medical world, overthinking is closer to the cold element. Next, we find the phrase that states the author only shares their thoughts with people who are close to the author.

Now, it’s not only highlighting the wintery profile that the author has created, but also signifies the ways the author uses to build relationships with the followers and readers.

November’s followers may only reach less than 200. However, most people love the Blind to Billionaire book. So far, the Blind to Billionaire book’s reader base has almost reached up to 50K reads. The novel itself is a part of Stary Writing Academy III, a regular competition and workshop for writers in Stary Pte. Ltd.’s platforms (including Dreame).

When we read the rest of November’s books, we know that the author is familiar with the terms tyranny and abuse.

The author can write stories about werewolves and human beings – however, the two themes (tyranny and abuse) always seem to be present throughout the books that the author has written, which gives me the impression that the author will empathize easily with people who experience things that are similar to any characters in the book.
