Oh For Mate’s Sake, a spinoff series from JM Snap’s doctor-verse novel, tells us a story about a she-wolf from the Sulfur pack named Clover Basket who should be the future Delta of her pack and also the mate to Alpha Dennis “Denny” Hart, whom she considers as a part of her family, along with Alpha Denny’s Beta and Gamma.

However, things are not easy for the future Delta Clover. First of all, she’s an orphan. Her pack and the rest of the pack treat her like trash. Her Alpha in Oh For Mate’s Sake used to cheat on Andrea, and the evil Barbie of the Oh For Mate’s Sake series, Taylor, put insidious pranks on her which leads to the mating ceremony her being canceled.
Making pancakes for her trusted people is the only ability that Clover has. She can’t even shift, and her healing factor ability is also slow. Even Alpha Scott, Alpha Denny’s father, rejects her as the future Delta. The rest of the Sulfur pack members are trying to kill Clover. Now, all Clover can do is believe in herself and that only she can save herself.

Part 1: Meet The Characters Of Oh For Mate’s Sake
Clover Basket
Clover is the first name of the main heroine of Oh For Mate’s Sake, while Basket is the last name given to her while considering her nature as an orphaned she-wolf. Clover is supposed to be the future Delta of the Sulfur pack. However, she has to endure several nasty ways from her pack.
First, she has to witness Alpha Denny, her mate, cheating with Andrea in front of her, which leads them to reject each other. Second, she has to face her archenemy in the mating ceremony, the evil Barbie Taylor, who injured her so badly through her pranks that lead Alpha Scott, Alpha Denny’s father, to completely annul the ceremony and thus slow down her ways to her mate.
I can see myself in Clover of Oh For Mate’s Sake. Both of us still struggle to build our self-confidence, despite knowing that we are the only people who can help ourselves.
Dennis “Denny” Hart
Alpha Denny of the Sulfur pack, the main male character of Oh For Mate’s Sake, should be the mate to the future Delta Clover. However, he continues to choose Andrea by repeatedly mentioning her name while also faking his apologies to Clover, which leads to a mutual rejection by both Denny and Clover.
He never cares whether Clover is bullied or abused in the Sulfur pack. All he cares about is his image as the future Alpha of the Sulfur pack after Alpha Scott steps down from his position. He even agrees with Alpha Scott, his father, to disband Clover from the Sulfur pack.
Part 2: Story About Oh For Mate’s Sake
The story of Oh For Mate’s Sake novel focuses on a good-natured she-wolf named Clover. We never know Clover’s surname until we continue to read some portions of the Oh For Mate’s Sake novel. Later on, it turns out that Basket is her given surname due to her conditions when beings around her found her.
Clover is an orphaned she-wolf. She should be the Delta of Sulfur pack, which is her pack. Unfortunately, the rest of her pack members hate her so much.
She has experienced immense bullying and abuse from her packs, especially from the evil Barbie Queen Taylor who always jokes about things that are not funny (such as but not limited to, making Clover all drenched in blood while Clover is trying to operate the juicer in Denny’s birthday).
Clover of Oh For Mate’s Sake novel has some key werewolf figures in the Sulfur pack whom she considers as her family. The “family” consists of Dennis “Denny” Hart, who is supposed to be her mate, and his Beta and Gamma. Denny will be the Alpha as soon as the current Alpha and his father, Alpha Scott, step out from the current position.
Even so, none of the Alphas in Oh For Mate’s Sake agree for Clover to be the Delta and also the Luna. First, Denny purposefully cheats with Andrea and sugar-coats his fake apologies just to provoke Clover’s reactions. Second, as Denny’s father, Alpha Scott also doesn’t want an orphaned wolf-like Clover to be included in the pack.

JM Snap, the author of Oh For Mate’s Sake novel, is particularly famous for the doctor-verse novel series that the author wrote. While it’s true that JM Snap has written so many novels since its debut on Dreame platform, we remember the author’s name when we tie the doctor-verse with Dreame novels, and Oh For Mate’s Sake is not an exception.
Oh For Mate’s Sake also takes place in JM Snap’s Doctor Series universe. The author states that the Oh For Mate’s Sake book is a standalone spin-off from the three-book series that the author has previously written. However, we can use other JM Snap books as our references in understanding the settings.
JM Snap has done a brilliant job of describing a female character that I can relate to. I see myself in Clover as I read through the stories, especially the parts where she becomes unwanted in her circles of “families” and her innocence in keep believing in the good despite what she has experienced.
